Three injured in Calvin Twp. crash

CASSOPOLIS — Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reported Wednesday his deputies handled a traffic crash on July 41 at 7:36 p.m. in Calvin Township at the intersection of Calvin Center Road and Williamsville Street.

Ashley Young, 19, of Cassopolis, was traveling west on Williamsville.

She advised that she was traveling too fast and was unable to stop at the stop sign at Williamsville Street and Calvin Center Road and struck a vehicle traveling south on Calvin Center Road.

Torri Irvine, 17, of Cassopolis, and Timothy Hufinagle, 18, of White Pigeon were also in the vehicle.

Young and Irvine were transported to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for treatment of their injuries. The second vehicle was driven by Don Dean, 65, of Chesterton Ind., who was also injured and transported to Borgess-Lee for treatment of his injuries. Life Care Ambulance, Penn Township Fire and Porter Ambulance assisted deputies on the scene.

Seatbelts were worn at the time of the accident, which remains under investigation.
