Mill Pond Association is hosting a fishing tournament to raise money for dam repairs. (The Daily News/Provided)

Dowagiac Mill Pond Association recently announced its plans for the first multi-species fishing tournament that will take place Saturday, July 16, at 7 a.m.

Rick O’Konski, tournament director for this event, said, “We are really excited about hosting this event. Cash prizes for the longest bluegill, crappie and largest total combined weight of five bass along with the largest total combined weight of carp (no limit) will be awarded to the winner.

Funds raised for this event will be used for Mill Pond dam repairs and other projects that will enhance the beauty of the Mill Pond.

All participants will receive a door prize.

The contest will be limited to the first 35 boats and the first five shore teams.

There also will be a silent auction, including a Heddon family lure authenticated by Chuck Heddon.

The auctions are only for tournament participants.
