Lucy Helen Pearson, 87, of Niles, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011.

Born in Marlin, Texas, she moved to Michigan in 1943 and married John H. Pearson in 1946.

She worked for Niles Laundry for more than 25 years and Garden City Cleaners until she retired in 1999. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Niles for more than 50 years.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Christian, and her husband, John H. Pearson.

Surviving are cousins, Vera Earl of Marlin, Texas, LC and Vernon Jordan of Houston, Texas, Harold and Karol Matthews of Dallas, Texas, Shirley (Kermit) Sneed of DeSoto, Texas, Charles Scott of Fort Worth, Texas, Von Jones of Houston, Texas, Steve and Mona Jones of Houston, Texas; a host of nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law Fred Pearson; goddaughter, Christine Cherry and Randolph Williams of Kalamazoo, Mich. and Richard and Kathryn Cherry of Chicago, Ill.

Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, July 8, 2011 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Niles.

Friends may call one hour before the service at the church.

Burial will be in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles.
