Michigan rallies for victory

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Despite trailing by 13 points in the opening half, Team Michigan remained undefeated at Sports Fest following its 68-57 win over Indiana West Tuesday night at Bethel College’s Weikamp Center.

Indiana West led 26-13 in the opening half, but was outscored 55-31 the remainder of the contest as Michigan advanced to Friday night’s championship game against Indiana Metro, which won by forfeit over Indiana East in the night’s first contest.

Niles’ Nicole Sly had 11 points for Team Michigan, which also got nine points from Edwardsburg’s Emily Kozinski, seven points and 11 rebounds from Brandywine’s Lauren Leonard and six points and 12 rebounds from the Bobcats’ Morgan Smallwood.

Niles’ Savannah Wolnik finished with three points and Edwardsburg’s Rachel Vite two. St. Joseph’s Katie Mavis led Michigan with 17 points.

Jacy Borlik led Indiana West and all scorers with 21 points.
