Rosemary E. ” Rodi” Uebler, 70, of Ferry Street, Niles, died at 5:31 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2011 at St. Joseph Regional
Medical Center in Mishawaka, Ind. following a brief illness. She was born April 28, 1941 in Gary, Ind. to Oscar and Mary Louise (Cummings) Haberkorn; graduated from Lew Wallace High School in Gary; and attended Indiana University-Gary. She was first employed as a confidential secretary at U.S. Steel in Gary and later as the secretary to the Oakland County (Mich.) Medical Examiner’s Office. She was employed by Niles Community Schools for 23 years, retiring in 2000. Rodi was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Niles and had formerly been a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Waterford, Mich. and St. Mark Catholic Church in Gary. She enjoyed traveling, especially to visit her children and grandchildren. On Oct.14, 1961, at St. Mark Catholic Church, she married James R. Uebler, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Jamie (Bryan) van Reesema of Virginia Beach, Va., Jeffrey (Kathy) Uebler of South Bend, Ind. and Heidi (Andrew) Seitz of Releigh, N.C.; grandchildren, Lauren and Willem van Reesema, Lucas Seitz, Anna Uebler, Zach Seitz and Kate Uebler; and Rodi’s sisters, Patricia Massa of Schererville, Ind., and Kathy Massa of Valparaiso, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Virginia Jeansonne and a brother, Thomas Haberkorn, preceded her in death. The Mass of Christian Burial for Rosemary Uebler will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, June 13 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Niles by the Rev. David Otto of the parish. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles, with recitation of The Rosary at 4 p.m. Contributions in memory of Rodi may be made to the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Critical Care Unit.
