Robert H. McCulloch, 86, died April 14, 2011.
He was born in Evanston, Ill. to Agnes Betts McCulloch and Hugh W. McCulloch, the second of three sons. He attended Evanston Public Schools but graduated from North Shore Country Day School. He then attended Denison University, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. During World War II he volunteered for the American Field Service. While with the AFS he drove an ambulance in Syria, Lebanon and Italy.
After service with the AFS, he returned to his studies at Denison, graduating in 1947 with a degree in economics. He went to work in Kenton, Ohio, where he met his future wife, Patricia Mahon. They married in 1949. Patricia pre-deceased him in 2004. They had no children but numerous nieces and nephews.
He was employed as a sales representative for American Hospital Supply for 25 years.
In 1955, Bob and Pat moved to Niles, where they had many friends. For many years, they wintered in Pompano Beach, Fla. After his wife’s death, Bob stayed in his home in Niles for a short while before moving in June 2005 to Kendal at Granville, Ohio, where he became a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by both his brothers, Hugh B. and Bruce M. McCulloch.
Bob is survived by his nephews, Thomas McCulloch, Andrew McCulloch, David McCulloch, Robert McCulloch and Timothy Bowman; and his nieces, Mary McCulloch, Janet Sparks, Catherine Breslin and Ann McCulloch.
A memorial service for Robert H. McCulloch will be held Sunday, July 10 at 2 p.m. at Kendal at Granville, 2158 Columbus Rd. S.W., Granville, OH 43023.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to KAGRA, the residents’ association at Kendal, 2210 Columbus Rd., Granville, OH 43023.
McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home has assisted the family with the arrangements.
