DUHS kickers blanked in finals

Elena Olivares and Taylor Underhill both scored two goals Saturday to lift Paw Paw past host Dowagiac in the Division 3 District championship match, 4-0.
Olivares had two goals in the opening half, both assisted by Courtney Congdon as the Redskins opened up a 3-0 advantage.
Underhill had the other goal of the first half on a penalty kick.
Olivares opened the scoring with 29:59 remaining in the first half. She dented the back of the net six minutes later to extend Paw Paw’s advantage to 2-0. Underhill scored with 21:19 showing on the clock.
The match stayed 3-0 for most of the final 40 minutes, but Underhill capped the scoring with a goal with just 5:31 remaining.
Paw Paw (15-3-1) outshot Dowagiac 12-2 in the championship match. Katie Haynor had both saves for the Redskins.
Alyssa Fritz stopped eight shots for the Chieftains.
Paw Paw now advance to face Hudsonville Unity Christian in the opening round of the regional tournament on Tuesday. Unity Christian has won the last six state championships.
Saturday’s district title was the third consecutive for the Redskins.
