CENTREVILLE — The Dowagiac golf team dominated the Division 3 District field Thursday just as it did the Wolverine Conference.

Dowagiac won all but one possible point in claiming the conference title earlier this spring.

On Thursday, Dowagiac captured the district championship by 41 strokes over runner-up Watervliet.

The Chieftains shot 311, while the Panthers finished wtih a 352. Parchment was third with a 367, South Haven fourth with a 370 and Coloma fifth wtih a 373.

Comstock shot 377, Buchanan 378, Brandywine 380 and Paw Paw 384.

Chris Craft finished as runner-up to the medalist with a round of 73.

Dowagiac also got a 78 from Max Howe, a 79 from Jordan Juday, an 81 from Cody Fairleigh and an 84 from Kyle Ward.

All five Chieftain golfers finished in the top 10.

Watervlliet’s Brad Rose was the medalist as he finished with a two-under par 70.

Brandywine’s Zack Rose was an individual qualifier after shooting 80, as was Buchanan’s Derek Blank, who finished with an 82. The Bucks finished eight and the Bobcats ninth with team scores of 378 and 380 respectively.

Dowagiac now advances to the regional tournament at the Medalist Golf Club, which will be hosted by Olivet.
