Buchanan knocked out by Berrien Springs in pre-district round

BRIDGMAN — On Tuesday night Buchanan and Berrien Springs met on the baseball diamond in Bridgman to battle for a place in the district semifinals with the losers’ season ending.

The Bucks fought hard, but in the end it was the Shamrocks picking up the two run victory, 5-3

Nick Phillips picked up the victory for Berrien Springs.

For Buchanan, Ryan Hencke collected a double and Cash Krumrie took the loss.

Berrien Springs advances to Saturday’s semifinals, where it will face Cassopolis at 10 a.m.

BRIDGMAN — There will be a new Division 3 District softball champion come Saturday afternoon.

That’s because Buchanan had its five-year winning streak snapped by Berrien Springs Tuesday afternoon, 8-2 in pre-district action.

Buchanan was looking to carry over some of the excitement from Memorial Day weekend but couldn’t match the power of the Shamrocks.

Berrien Springs outhit Buchanan 12-3.

Jillian Wold earned the victory in the circle for the Shamrocks. Picking up doubles for Berrien Springs were Courtney McGregor, Jen Marren and Danielle Downey.

Doubling for the Bucks were Emily Kuntz and Brianna Turnock. Audrey Oake got the loss for Buchanan

The Shamrocks advance to Saturday’s semifinals on Saturday, where they will face Cassopolis at 11:30 a.m.
