Nancy Lee Cavitt, 73, of Niles, died at 7:37 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2011 at Riveridge Manor in Niles after a four-year battle with cancer.
She was born April 29, 1938 in Niles to Fred & Nola (Purdy) Amon.
Nancy graduated in 1957 from Buchanan High School. She was a very active member of the Niles American Legion Post 26. She enjoyed cooking, motorcycle riding, working in her flower gardens, sewing and going to the casino. She was employed for many years as a bartender and manager of the Niles American Legion. She also worked for 10 years at the Martin’s Super Market in Niles.
Surviving are two daughters, Lisa (David) Jackson of Elkhart and Tresa Enyeart of Granger, Ind.; two grandchildren, Stephanie and Rachel Enyeart; a brother, Leroy (Lucille) Amon of Atlanta, Ga.; and two sisters, Margaret Treesh of South Bend and Dorothy (Don) Maynard of St. Joseph.
Six brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
A private family graveside service will be held at Harris Cemetery at a later date.
Cremation will take place.
Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
