Live blog: Indianapolis 500 – first caution

INDIANAPOLIS – It took 21 laps before the first yellow flag of the afternoon flew at Indianapolis Motor Speedway when a pair of cars brushed the wall.
Paul Tracy was the first to kiss the safer barrier, but he was able to continue. But when Takuma Sato hit the wall, the yellow flag was displayed on the field slowed from its pace of over 220 m.p.h. and the field headed to the pits.
Alex Tagliani, Scott Dixon, Townsend Bell, Dan Weldon and DarioFranchitti made up the top five after 22 laps.
During the pit stops, Will Power lost a rear tire as he pulled away. The Roger Penske entry had to come back into the pits and replace the tire. Power, who had won all of the poles up to the Indy 50, came into the race as the IZOD Indy Car points leader.
