INDIANAPOLIS – As teams began to come in for what was expected to be their final pit stops, Danica Patrick for the second time in her career, took over the lead at lap 179.
Unfortunately, Patrick was short on fuel an will not be able to go the distance.
Still, the running order continued to shuffle as teams made pit stops and several teams were on various fuel schedules.
That should mean there will be another fantastic finish at the Indianapolis 500.
With only 18 laps remaining, there were just a total of five cars on the lead lap.
As the race reached its final 10 laps, Bertrand Baquette was the leader after passing Patrick a few laps earlier.
The remainder of the top five were Marco Andretti, Dario Franchitti and JR Hildebrand.
With 10 laps left, she had to come in for fuel, but that shouldn’t keep her from getting a good finish.
