Kenneth Strange, 65 / Dec. 28, 1945 — May 20, 2011

Kenneth Joseph Strange, 65, of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest Friday, May 20, 2011 at Elkhart General Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born Dec. 28, 1945 in Loogootee, Ind. to Donald and Ruth (Ellis) Strange, and lived in Michiana for many years.

Ken drove a fork lift for several years at Midwest Lumber and formerly owned a wood service company. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and was a member of the Edwardsburg American Legion Post 365 and was a lifetime member of the Edwardsburg VFW Post 2284.

Surviving are a son, Joseph of Mishawaka; mother, Ruth Strange of Bloomington, Ind.; four sisters, Evelyn (Arthur) Matlock of Lakeland, Fla., Linda (George) Hudoff, Pamela (Jerry) Hurt, both of Bloomington, and Ann Strange of Virginia; five brothers, Roger (Erva) Strange of French Lick, Ind., Earl (Brenda) Strange of Bloomfield, Ind., Michael Strange, Ernie Strange, both of  Indianapolis, and Patrick (Barbara) Strange of Bloomington; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Joseph Allen Strange.

Family and friends were invited to gather at Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main St., Edwardsburg on Wednesday, May 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. This concluded with the local American Legion and VFW doing an honor salute.

Further services will be Saturday, May 28 at 11 a.m. at Brocksmith Funeral Home, 300 Church St., Loogootee, Ind., where visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bramble, Ind. with the U.S. Army Honor Guard presenting rites.

Ken loved his friends and was the happiest when surrounded by friends, especially Leo Biggs and his wife.
