Martha J. Rice, 50, of Cassopolis, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 6:10 p.m. in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka of natural causes.
Martha was born July 28, 1960 in Niles to Lloyd & Alleyne (Gleason) Parsons. She was a 1978 Cassopolis High School graduate.
On Sept. 19, 1980 she married Alan D. Rice. Martha was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Cassopolis. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and landscaping, and recently her and her husband acquired a motorcycle on which she loved to go riding.
Martha is survived by her mother, Alleyne Parsons; her husband, Alan D. Rice; a daughter, Emily Oman of Cassopolis; and a son, Jordan Rice of Cassopolis. Her granddaughter, Rilyn Oman, and 16 of Martha’s siblings also survive.
She is preceded in death by her father.
A memorial service has been arranged to be held June 4 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 23247 Hospital St., Cassopolis with Minister Richard Gerisch to preside.
Burial will take place privately at a later date.
Memorials may be given to a Charity of One’s Choice in Martha’s memory.
