Empowering, inspiring women

After opening her own studio in downtown Niles earlier this year, business owner Lacey Weimuth of Lace Dance and Fitness is now hoping to give other women their own sense of empowerment.
And she’s enlisting a little help.
Weimuth is organizing a women’s expo to take place June 11, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the corner of Main and Front Street at Riverfront Park.
“I’ve noticed since I opened my studio downtown in Niles, local women business owners are making a huge statement,” Weimuth said. “I guess I just wanted to bring them all together in one place.”
More than 20 businesses will be represented at the expo which is expected to highlight themes of health and total wellness.
“It’s really about mind, body and soul,” Weimuth said. “Kind of like therapy to the community.”
Along with an opportunity to receive coupons and learn about various businesses there will be two guest speakers to address attendants.
Yoga instructor Lindsey Hessey will talk about her experience with successful weight loss and what has helped her to get moving.
Jenny Gillette will also speak at the expo and talk about inner beauty and her own personal path to finding herself.
“It’s going to be a very emotional, inspiring speech from her,” Weimuth said.
Local food vendors, including Squeeze and Massimo’s Pizza are also going to be on hand with refreshments.
“I really hope that (women) get a sense of empowerment,” Weimuth said. “And they feel inspired and motivated to follow their dreams and aspirations of their own.”
Since she began organizing the event, Weimuth said several vendors have taken an interest in participating and there are still spots open.
“The event is open to any woman at any age,” Weimuth said. “They don’t have to be a business owner or interested in business, it’s just to be a really inspiring event … Inspiring and motivating all the women so we can make a difference.”
Weimuth hopes to make the Women’s Expo an annual event.
Entertainment includes a 30 minute yoga and zumba demonstration, a live DJ and Riverfront Cafe will host cocktails after hours at 6:30 p.m.
