EDWARDSBURG — Ross Ralph Anders, 90, of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest suddenly on Tuesday morning, May 17, 2011, at his home from an apparent heart attack.

Ross was born June 1, 1920, in Valparaiso, Ind., the son of Delbert and Harriett (Cook) Anders.

He moved to the Twin Lakes area north of Dowagiac in 1926 and attended grade school at Glenwood and graduated from Dowagiac High School in 1939.

He had been employed at Bendix Corp., South Bend, Ind., for more than 33 years driving a lift truck.

He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army.

He was married July 16, 1982, at Cassopolis to Katherine Schaefer, who survives.

Other survivors are: four step-daughters, Cherrie Ann (Jim) Tharp of McAllen, Texas, Mary Ruth McCrary of Texarkana, Texas, Judith Carol (Ricky) Mayes of Kileen, Texas, and Rebekah Lee (John) Martin of Decatur, Ala.

There are eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a sister, Eleanor Meenteer of California, a son-in-law, Ron Kent of Dowagiac, and many nieces and nephews.

Members of the family who have passed are his parents, his daughter, Robin Kent, and his seven siblings, Delbert, Robert, Allan, Ed and Harry Anders and Mae Campbell and Fern Minarik.

Friends and family may gather on Friday, May 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 W. Main (U.S. 12) in Edwardsburg.

The service of remembrance will be Saturday, May 21, at 10 a.m. at the Mayhew Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Campbell, pastor of New Hope United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac.
