The Dowagiac varsity baseball team didn’t fare very well against visiting Gull Lake Tuesday night in Wolverine Conference play.

The Blue Devils won the opener, while the two teams were tied after seven innings of the nightcap.

The Blue Devils came ready to play as they pounced on the Chieftains, holding them to only one hit in the game and no runs as they beat them 9-0.

In the second game, Dowagiac was looking for revenge and it started off well, but could only manage three runs on six hits in a game that was called after seven due to darkness leaving.

The score was deadlocked at 3-3 when the game was halted.

Pitching for the Chieftains in the second game was Michael Pranschke. Picking up hits were Jason Turner with a double and Brett Scanlon with a big home run.
