St. Joseph-based Lakeland Cancer Specialists will begin seeing patients in Niles starting Tuesday, May 24 from 8 a.m. to noon every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

The practice’s offices will be temporarily located in the former ambulatory infusion clinic within Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles until their new location is completed in the soon-to-be-constructed Lakeland Medical Suites, Niles across the street from the hospital.

Also, Lakeland Cancer Specialists physicians Dr. Gerald Kozuh and Dr. Edmund Paloyan recently welcomed Dr. Sapna Patel to the practice.

Patel was formerly employed by Oncology Care Associates of St. Joseph. Prior to Patel returning to southwest Michigan, she worked at the Regional Cancer Center at Indian Path Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn. She also spent three years at the Southwest Virginia Regional Cancer Center in Norton, Va.

Patel received her medical degree from the Spartan Health Sciences University School of Medicine in Vieux Fort, St. Lucia. She has also completed fellowships and is board-certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine. Patel is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.
