Eddies win Lakeland track meet

The Edwardsburg boys’ and girls’ middle school track teams won the Lakeland Conference titles Thursday night.

The Eddies won the boys’ title with 128 points, defeating Berrien Springs (120), Coloma (78) and Brandywine (77). Cassopolis finished sixth (30) and Buchanan seventh (17).

The Edwardsburg girls scored 187 points to easily outdistance runner-up Berrien Springs, which finished with 149 points.

Cassopolis was third (66), Buchanan fifth (25) and Brandywine sixth (16).

Edwardsburg’s Tyler Lutz won both the 800- and 400-meters and was part of the Eddies’ winning 1,600-meter relay team.

Lutz ran 2:23.55 in the 800, 58.06 in the 400 and teamed with Dante Razzano, Christian Eggleston and D.J. Bosse to run 4:20.72 in the relay.

The Brandywine 400-meter relay team of Charlie Rodruguez, Kyle Vanlacke, Andrew Duckett and Cordell Davis won with a time of 53.23.
