Dowagiac baseball, softball, soccer draw byes

Dowagiac and Niles received first round byes Thursday morning as the Division II district baseball and softball tournament draws were announced.

The Chieftains and Vikings will both play Saturday, June 4 in the semifinals.

Dowagiac will take on the winner of the top-ranked Lakeshore and No. 3 ranked St. Joseph at 10 a.m. at Dowagiac Union High School.

Arch rival Lakeshore and St. Joseph will play Tuesday, May 31 at 5 p.m. at the DUHS field.

Niles and Benton Harbor, which also received a bye, will square off in the second semifinal at noon. The championship game is slated for 2 p.m.

Division II baseball

St. Joseph and Lakeshore will face each other at 5 p.m. May 31 at Rotary Park with the winner advancing to Saturday’s semifinals against Dowagiac at noon.

Benton Harbor and Niles will play the first game Saturday at 10 a.m. The championship game is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Division II soccer

Dowagiac is also hosting the Division II soccer district beginning Tuesday, May 31.

The host Chieftains received a first round bye and will face the winner of the Brandywine at Comstock match at 6 p.m.

In the other half of the bracket, Coloma will travel to South Haven for a 5 p.m. match, while Paw Paw will host Buchanan at 6 p.m.

Both semifinals will be played at Dowagiac Union High School Thursday, June 2.

Dowagiac and the winner of the Comstock-Brandywine match will play at 4 p.m., while the winners from Coloma-South Haven and Paw Paw-Buchanan will play at 6 p.m.

The championship match is set for noon on Saturday, June 4.
