VICKSBURG — The Dowagiac boys’ and girls’ track teams finished fourth at the Wolverine Conference mini-jamboree held on Tuesday.

Dowagiac’s Kaisha Martin was a three-time winner as she captured the 100-meters, the long jump and was part of the Chieftains’ winning 400-meter relay team.

Martin ran 13.33 in the 100, turned in a leap of 16-3 in the long jump and teamed with Jacoya Brookins, Creona Rodgers and Andrea Wade to run a 52.71.

Rodgers won the high jump with a height of 5-1.

Regina Kennedy picked up Dowagiac’s other first place finish as she won the discus with a toss of 91-3.75. She was also second in the shot put with a throw of 33-10.

Brookins was third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.85 and Rodgers was third in the 100-meters with a time of 13.75.

Brookins, Alex Carey, Candious Clabin and Wade were third in the 800-meter relay with a time of 2:01.73.

Wade was fourth in the 200-meters (29.55) and Hazel Kennedy fifth in the shot put (29-8.5).

Dowagiac was fourth in both the 3,200- and 1,600-meter relays.

The team of Jennifer Schaus, Paige Schaus, Perla Medina and Holly Luth ran 12:31 in the 3200, while Jennifer Schaus, Kendra Wilson, Rubi Brito and Carey ran 5:51 in the 1600.

Chris Gantt was a double winner for the boys’ team as he captured the 1,600- and 3,200-meters with times of 4:36.53 and 10:28.79.

Sam Courtney had Dowagiac’s other first place effort as he won the shot put with a toss of 46-7.

The Chieftains were second in the 400-meter relay with a time of 44.86. That unit consisted of Mike Bennett, Dontrell Tucker, Lucas Petro and Austin Adams.

Adams was third in the 100-meters with a time of 11.7 and Tucker fourth with a time of 11.8.

Bennett finished fourth in the 200-meters (24.62) and Brett Lesniak fourth in the shot put (43-3.75).

Dowagiac’s 800-meter relay team of Shane Bevins, Aaron Adams, Nick Theilman and Petro was fourth with a time of 1:44.02.

“Our top athletes had good nights for us, especially Chrsi Gantt on the boys side, ” Dowagiac coach Ken Jordan said.
