Track roundup: Bobcats captures Centreville Invitational

CENTREVILLE — The Brandywine boys’ track team captured the Centreville Invitational on Saturday.

The Bobcats scored 812.5 points to easily defeat runner-up Mendon, which finished wtih 790 points. Centreville was third with 780, Colon fourth with 643 and Gobles fifth with 519.5.

Jacob Frazier captured the shot put for Brandwine with a toss of 50-7, while Aaron Marquardt won the high jump after clearing 6-1.5. Elliott Richards won the 3,200-meters with a time of 10:43.42.

Rotary Track meet

ST. JOSEPH — Two-time defending state champion Kaisha Martin of Dowagiac had a big night Friday at the annual Rotary Track Meet held at St. Joseph High School.

Martin won three events and was a member of the Chieftains’ 400-meter relay team that finished second.

Martin won the long jump with a leap of 17-3, won the 100-meters with a time of 12.7 and won the 200-meters with a time of 26.59. Martin was the state champion in the long jump and 100-meters at last year’s Division 3 state meet.

Niles’ Myles Busby captured the high jump with a height of 6-4, while the Vikings’ 800-meter relay team of Leon Murphy, Ronnie Jones, Cicone Palmore and Brandon Partee were victorious with a time of 1:32.4.

Quintin Irby was also a champion as he posted a time of 51.6 in the 400-meters.
