Sorority’s chili supper benefits Dowagiac Union Schools Foundation

Linda Alexander, treasurer of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, presented a $200 check to Tom Carlson, president of the Dowagiac Union Schools Foundation.The money resulted from last fall’s chili supper put on by all five Beta Sigma Phi chapters to assist the foundation with grants given during the year.

Dowagiac Union Schools Foundation, created in 1984, provides funding for educational opportunities that fall outside the school district’s operating budget. Its goal is to supplement, expand and diversify learning experiences of Dowagiac Union students in grades K-12.

Fundraising, donations, memorials and gifts to Dowagiac Union Schools Foundation recently funded classroom field trip to Potawatomi Zoo, Kalamazoo Valley Museum and Miller Auditorium in addition to senior citizen luncheons, Girls on the Run, the bandroom sound system and many other educational classroom tools.
