DART Customer Appreciation Day May 17 at the depot

Dowagiac Dial-A-Ride Transit will host a Customer Appreciation Day at the depot on Tuesday, May 17, in conjunction with “Let’s Get Moving Advocacy Day.”

The “Let’s Get Moving” program is a broad-based coalition of organizations and individuals committed to the advocacy of public transportation, including sharing information on why transit matters and working with legislators to oppose cuts in state transit funding.

In support of “Let’s Get Moving” efforts on behalf of public transportation, DART will show our appreciation for our customers and highlight the benefits of public transportation by offering free coffee at the depot, a drawing for a free ticket book and a few other surprises along the way. Please plan on joining us at the depot on Tuesday, May 17, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to show your support for public transportation.

Repairs to depot

Last week employees of Amtrak informed us there is a problem with the floor on the portion of the building rented and occupied by Amtrak.
Jim Bradford inspected that area and found that the floor has rotted and that there is asbestos throughout the basement of the facility.
Asbestos needs to be removed before repairs to the floor can take place.
Fortunately, each year the city sets aside funds for building repairs so when a situation like this arises, funds are available.
We will use monies accumulated in the depot and municipal buildings funds to make these unanticipated repairs.
