Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital recently held a volunteer luncheon in honor of all those who generously donate their time and talents.

Cassandra Bennett and Josephine Spichtig received special recognition for reaching the milestone of 500 hours of volunteer service. Their names now appear on a special plaque in the hospital’s main hallway.

Keith Thorpe was also recognized for accumulating up to 499 hours of volunteer service.

“We thank our volunteers for their remarkable gifts of time, talent and energy,” said Joy Strand, administrator and chief operating officer, Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital. “We are extremely proud of them for making our hospital and our community central to their lives.”

Sue McCormick, director of administrative services, added, “In 2010, our volunteers donated 4,615 hours of service to the hospital. The national theme this year was ‘Volunteers … touching lives and lifting spirits,’ and our volunteer group definitely embodies the spirit of this theme.”
