DUHS track teams swept by Paw Paw

The Dowagiac boys’ and girls’ track teams could not keep up with visiting Paw Paw Tuesday afternoon in a Wolverine Conference meet.
The Chieftains were defeated by the Redskins 102-30 in girls’ competition and 111-26 in boys’ action.
Dowagiac managed just three first place finishes in the boys’ portion of the meet as Colin Tidey won the pole vault with a height of 10-6, Sam Courtney won the shot put with a toss of 46-4.5 and Chris Gantt won the 1,600-meters with a time of 2:07.05.
For the girls, only Kaisha Martin, Regina Kennedy and Creona Rodgers took first place.
Martin won the 100-meters with a time of 12.71 and the long jump with a leap of 17-4.
Kennedy won the shot put with a toss of 33-feet and Rodgers won the high jump with a height of 4-8.
Finishing second for the Dowagiac boys’ team was Brett Lesniak in the shot put (44-1.75). Taking third were Nick Thielmann in the 110-meter high hurdles (20.08), Mike Bennett in both the pole vault (9-0) and long jump (19-0), Shane Bevins in the high jump (5-0) and Dontrell Tucker in the 200-meters (24.31).
For the Chieftain girls’ team, Andrea Wade was second in the 200-meters (29.44) and Holly Luth was second in the 3,200-meters (14:21).
Finishing third were Jacoya Brookins in the 100-meter hurdles (17.65), Rodgers in the 100-meters (13.70), Kennedy in the discus (84-7) and DaVaughna Huff in the high jump (4-0).
