A $31 million bond proposal for Buchanan Community Schools was defeated after Tuesday’s election. With six of seven precincts reporting as of press time, 959 residents had voted no and 632 yes.

The bond would have funded improvements to the district’s buildings and improved technology in all the schools.

In the Niles Community Schools district, Dana Daniels and Michael Waldron were re-elected to the school board. With 11 of 13 precincts reporting as of press time, Daniels had 452 votes, Waldron 417 and newcomer Jeffrey Harrell had 262.

Running unopposed, Dennis Cooper was re-elected to the Brandywine school board.
