A short-handed Dowagiac tennis team dropped a 5-3 Wolverine Conference decision to visiting Comstock on Friday.

The Chieftains and Colts were making up a match from the previous week. It was also a Cancer Awareness match. Both teams were sporting pink and each player received a pink tennis ball to give to someone they knew who was a cancer survivor.

Dowagiac split the singles flights, but won just one of four doubles matches.

Hope Daniel defeated Mary Nelson at No. 1 singles 6-2 and 6-3, while Kristina Bunn defeated Taylor Knapp-Calkins at No. 4 singles 7-5 and 6-4.

The Chieftains’ lone victory in doubles came at No. 1 where Jessica Martin and Megan Hornburg defeated Cassidy Boers and Kamille Masey 7-6(4), 6-2 and 6-3.
