Chieftain sweep Vicksburg diamond squad

VICKSBURG — The Dowagiac baseball team picked up a doubleheader sweep of host Vicksburg Friday afternoon in Wolverine Conference action.
The Chieftains defeated the Bulldogs 5-2 and 13-5. The second game was halted after six innings due to darkness.
Zac Hyatt scattered five hits, struck out 12 and walked just one in earning the first game mound victory.
Hyatt also had a home run, while Jason Turner added a double for the Chieftains, who also had five hits.
In the nightcap, Cal Cox earned the victory as he allowed five hits with eight strikeouts and just one walk.
Dowagiac, who scored eight in the third inning to break the contest wide open, finished with 12 hits. Brett Scanlon had a double and a home run. Hyatt had a pair of doubles and Chad Gravatt also had a double.
The Chieftains will entertain Three Rivers Tuesday in a Wolverine Conference make-up contest.
