Sam Adams Elementary School is beginning to take shape, and Cassopolis Public Schools Supt. Gregory Weatherspoon said excitement is building among students and staff about it opening next year.

As a way to build the excitement even more and to help the community to “visualize” the building, there will be a community “Sneak Peak” event at the school Thursday, May 5 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Guided tours of the building will take place 15 minutes apart during the evening. Representatives from Skanska, the construction team behind the project, and Architect Fanning Howey will be on hand to answer questions regarding the project.

Weatherspoon said although the project is a little behind schedule, he fully expects the building to be completed by August and ready for the next school year.

Weatherspoon also said he plans to make a recommendation to the board of education to keep the Frank Squires Elementary building for alternative education and administration. He is also recommending taking the Red Brick building offline and possibly selling it.
