BERRIEN SPRINGS — Visiting Brandywine and Berrien Springs made up their Lakeland Conference tennis match on Wednesday under cloudy skies, windy and cold conditions.

The Bobcats, despite being down two starters, still came away with a 7-1 victory over the Shamrocks and improved to 4-0 in league matches and 7-0-1 overall.

“With two starters out, I thought our kids responded well to the challenge,” Brandywine coach Joe Marazita said. “Cooper (Jessy) and Gipson (Rachel) complimented each other well and seem to get better every day. We adapted well to the cold and rain and I am looking forward to our tournament this Saturday and the predicted warmer weather.”

Lauren Leonard, who usually plays No. 1 doubles, stepped into the No. 3 singles spot on Thursday and came away with a 7-6 and 6-3 win over Abby Hose.

Cooper and Gipson easily defeated Stenfani Camacho and Maggie O’Brien at No. 2 doubles, 6-2 and 6-2.
