Ellen M. Coffinger, 95 of Rolling Prairie, formerly of Buchanan and Niles, passed away on Easter Sunday at Hamilton Communities with her son and daughter in-law by her side.
She was born on May 20, 1915 in Buchanan to the late William H. and Bessie A. (Weaver) Baldwin.
On March 9, 1942 she married Henry A. Coffinger. Together they were married for almost 45 years before he preceded her in death Feb. 28, 1987.
Ellen worked as a pattern folder for Simplicity Pattern Co. for many years. She was a devoted mother and homemaker.
Ellen enjoyed knitting, crocheting and ceramics. She loved her family with all her heart and was a very Christian woman who loved to read and listen to tapes about heaven.
Ellen was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Reda Ingleright and Mamie Matthews; and her two brothers, Clair Baldwin and Edgar Baldwin.
Ellen is survived by her loving son, Stephen and Cynthia Coffinger of Rolling Prairie, Ind.; her daughter, Mary Ellen and Rex Best of Buchanan; four grandchildren, Donna Gallippo, Scott Best, Doug Coffinger and Denise Wetzel; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27 at 1 p.m. in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Buchanan.
