The Ancilla College softball team dropped two more Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Western Conference games on Thursday.
The Chargers (11-23, 1-19 MCCAA) were defeated by Lake Michigan College (10-20, 9-7 MCCAA) 10-2 and 2-0 in Benton Harbor.
Gretchen Gieseking and Niles’ Demi Schrader each collected two hits and an RBI and starting pitcher Emily Steele allowed just three earned runs in the game one loss.
Ancilla was held to just six hits in game two, three coming off the bat of Kaitlyn Dick. Schrader and Trisha Dillon combined for six innings of work without allowing an earned run and scattered just three hits.
“Our defense let us down today,” Ancilla coach Scott Reese said. “Even though we left 13 runners on base in the two games combined, we put ourselves into too many difficult situations by committing eight errors.”
Former Edwardsburg standout Ashley Tackett picked up the victory in the nightcap for the Indians.
