John W. Nemeth, 41, of Union Road, Plymouth, Ind. and formerly of Niles, died at 2:54 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2011 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
He was born Oct. 2, 1969 in South Bend to Wendell R. and Ann E. (Mahoney) Nemeth. He grew up in Niles and attended Niles Community Schools and later attended Ivy Tech in South Bend. He moved to Plymouth 13 years ago. He was employed at A.M. General in South Bend for many years, and owned and operated Wild Man Welding.
John enjoyed hunting many different animals, and often donated venison to food pantries. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and providing fireworks displays on the Fourth of July. He loved animals and had many pets, farm animals and reptiles.
On July 2, 1999 in Plymouth, he married the former Marsha E. Prathaftakis, who survives. Surviving family also includes his daughter, Jessica Renee Nemeth of Plymouth; stepchildren, Heather (Mike) Sanders of Mishawaka, Ind., James and Joseph Brownbridge, both of South Bend, and Jeremiah Brownbridge of Mishawaka; his parents, Ann and Wendell Nemeth of Niles; sisters, Becky Needham of Mishawaka, Natalie, Kimberly and Eva Nemeth, all of Niles; six nieces and nephews, Kurtis, Justin, Amanda, Ariana, Kymani and Bella; and Marsha’s parents, Carol and Gus Prathaftakis.
The Mass of Christian burial for John W. Nemeth will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Niles with the Rev. David Otto of the church officiating.
Committal rites will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Niles.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
