Ida Janke, 89, of Edwardsburg, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 at her home with her family by her side.

Ida was born Nov. 6, 1921 in Pipestone Township, Berrien County. She was married in 1943 to Richard Janke, who passed in 1998.

Surviving are their children, Linda (Gary) Bean of Coloma, Mary (Dennis) Hartsell of Edwardsburg, Richard (Diane) Janke of Coloma and David (Cheryl) Janke of Tomball, Texas; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Other survivors are her siblings, Freda Schilke of Elkhart, Ind., Clara (Arnold) Klug of Berrien Center and Herb (Thelma) Disterheft of Dowagiac.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, parents, four sisters, three brothers and four grandchildren.

A service of remembrance was held Tuesday, March 29 at 11 a.m. at Community Baptist Church, 28647 U.S. Highway 12, west of Edwardsburg, where friends gathered for one hour before services.

Memorials may be made to the church of Hospice at Home.
