Edwardsburg second at Niles

Host Niles captured its own quad meet on Monday afternoon at the Orchard Hills Country Club.
The Vikings not only battled Edwardsburg, St. Joseph and Cassopolis, but the elements as well.
Niles shot four strokes better than Edwardsburg as it finished with a 170 compared to a 174 for the Eddies. St. Joseph was third with a 181, while Cassopolis finished with a 214.
Edwardsburg’s Chris Eaton took medalist honors as he fired a 38.
Niles was led by Sam Clark’s 40. Chris Noble shot 41 with Brett Phillips finishing with a 44 and John Schrader with a 45. The Vikings also got a 48 from Jared Langmeyer and a 55 from Dominic Wyland.
“It was cold, windy and the conditions were tough,” Niles coach Greg Gunder said. “Our kids I thought were really struggling because I know what they usually shoot. I thought we were in serious trouble. I guess now I know we can play in bad weather. Now we know after having one match we have some work to do.”
The Eddies also got a pair of 45s from Dominic Razzano and Austin Tevlin, while Max Habicht and Brody Baucus each shot 46. Pierce Bourgeois finished with a 54.
Blaise Suseland led Cassopolis with a 47. Brandon James shot 53 and Brandon Palmatier 56. Tony Jones and Austin Fitzsimmons shot 59 and 75 respectively.
The Niles JV lost to St. Joe 197-204. Ryan Clutter led the Vikings with a 46. Josh Bell and Andrew Myers both shot 52, while Josh Myers shot 54, Kevin Schrader 55 and Zach Brawley 63.
