The Dowagiac Wrestling Club advanced 15 out of 25 wrestlers to the MYWA state finals to be held at the Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek march 25-27.

Dowagiac’s grapplers competed for two days in order to qualify for the state championships.

Seven Dowagiac wrestlers brought home regional championships.

They were Jordan Simpson, Deny White, Garret Pillivant, Derrek Collett, Zach Checkley, Jacob Worthington and Carl Grant.

Placing second for Dowagiac were Dontae Murphy and Ryan Smit.

Finishing third were Landon Turnbow, Cailyn Murphy, Alex McIntosh, Wyatt Hills and Jacob Davis.

Placing fourth was Jared Checkley.

The Edwardsburg Wrestling Club also had a successful weekend at regionals.

Edwardsburg finished with six regional champions.

Winning regional championships were Caedin Pulling, Jackson Hoover, Nick Bradley, Michael Higley, Michael Borden and Ryan Loupee.

Finishing second for Edwardsburg were Caden Reece, Noah Tinkham, Dillon Cline, Jacob Herman and Brandon Cooper.

Placing third were Tye Vargo, Austin Cline, Jacob Reece, Devin Pulling, Blake Prsons and Chase Horne. Finishing fourth were Steven Harris, Collin Kelly, Trey Jarvis and Seth Barnett.
