Hutchison, Green after state titles

AUBURN HILLS — Buchanan’s Gage Hutchison and Mack Green are undefeated headed into the final day of the MHSAA Individual State Wrestling Finals at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Hutchison (54-1) advanced to the 171-pound championship match today by edging Mason Courtright of Shelby, 9-8.
Green (53-2) will wrestling for the 215-pound state title after defeating Myron Hose of Belding, 7-4.
Dustan Craig (42-6) went into today’s semifinal with a 2-0 record, but was pinned in 1:26 at 285-pounds by Tyler Blohm of Shelby.
Brandywine’s Jimmie Wright (43-9) and Chanc Ravish (46-10) are both still alive after winning a pair of matches on Friday.
The two will be going after third place today when wrestling continues at 8:30 a.m.
Niles’ Colin Burandt will also being going for third place today after splitting a pair of matches. His 5-4 win over Cody Burgess of Bryan Center advanced him today’s competition.
Mike Gentry also split a pair of matches, but was eliminated following a 7-2 loss to Portage Northern’s Collin Teff.
