Knights of Columbus return with paczki sale

Paczki Days are here again, and the Knights of Columbus will be selling paczkies again at its second annual sale Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church at 24832 U.S. 12 East, Edwardsburg.

The Catholics celebrate the day known as Fat Tuesday on March 8, the official day before Lenten season begins and when the paczkies go on sale.

Any paczki lover will say that a donut and a paczki are not the same. Paczkies are made with sweeter, richer dough with more eggs and sugar and are cut larger, without a hole, according to the bakers.

Orders are available now; however, at a cost of $4.75 per half-dozen or $9 per dozen.

Paczkies may also be purchased at the church social hall on Saturday from 6 to 7 p.m.; Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to noon; and on Fat Tuesday from 8 a.m. to noon.

There are seven flavors: apple, blueberry, strawberry, lemon, custard, creme and raspberry.

Orders may also be dropped into the paczki collection box located outside the church administration office or by calling 699-7660. Orders may also be faxed to 699-5474.
