Dowagiac hosting boys’ district

Dowagiac Union High School will be the site of the Michigan High School Athletic Association Class B Boys’ District Basketball Tournament, which will begin on Monday, March 7.

The host Chieftains will take on St. Joseph and former Dowagiac coach Greg Blomgren in the tournament’s opening game at 5:30 p.m.

The second game of the doubleheader will pit Lakeshore against Berrien Springs. Buchanan and Edwardsburg both received first round byes.

The Dowagiac-St. Joseph winner will face Edwardsburg, which currently leads the Lakeland Conference with a perfect 6-0 record, on Wednesday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m.

The Lakeshore-Berrien Springs winner will take on the Bucks in the first game on March 7 at 5:30 p.m. The championship game is set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 11.

Team district wrestling

Berrien Springs will host the Division 3 Team Wrestling District Tournament on Thursday, Feb. 10.

The host Shamrocks will take on Buchanan at 6 p.m. in one semifinal, while Dowagiac will face Coloma in the other semifinal.

The finals will be held 10 minutes after the completion of the last semifinal.

Invidivual districts

Niles will host the Division 2 Individual District Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 12.

Also competing are Battle Creek Harper Creek, Benton Harbor, Coldwater, Edwardsburg, Kalamazoo Loy Norrix, Marshall, Mattawan, Portage Northern, Lakeshore, Sturgis, Three Rivers and Vicksburg.

Coloma will be the site of the Division 3 individual tournament.

Also participating will be Dowagiac, Buchanan, Berrien Springs, Fennville, Hopkins, Hudsonville-Unity Christian, Comstock, Otsego, Parchment, Paw Paw, South Haven, Wyoming-Godwin Heights, Wyoming-Kelloggsville and Zeeland West.
