The Niles Four Flags USBC Bowling Association and Joey Armadillo’s is sponsoring the 5th Annual Bowl for the Cure event on Feb. 19.

There will be two shifts (11 a.m. and 3 p.m.) to accommodate as many bowlers as possible. Cost is only $20 per person if pre-registered by Saturday. Each pre-registered participant will receive a 2011 Bowl for the Cure t-shirt.

In 2010, the bowling association donated more than $11,000 and ranked eighth in the nation for most donations from a single association. Joey Armadillo’s Bowling Center located at 2732 South 11th St. in Niles is the host site.

Check-in will begin at one hour prior to each shift. Registrations will be taken at the door if there is still lane availability, so get signed up now. To obtain a copy of the registration form, go to http://www.nilesfourflagsusbc.com.

This year, the bowlers plan to raise more than $10,000 to contribute to the Southwestern Michigan Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. Proceeds from this event will stay in the local counties and help to fund breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment.

Bowl for the Cure is a fundraising and awareness initiative organized by the United States Bowling Congress.

Many local businesses have contributed by purchasing banners and donating prizes, money or services. These donations enable the association to put on raffles, silent auctions and a live auction. They have everything from autographed sports memorabilia to oil changes. You do not need to be bowling to bid on auction items.
