BENTON HARBOR — The Niles JV boys’ basketball team edged host Benton Harbor Thursday night 56-53.

Alec Brown scored 17 points, while Rodney Applewhite added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Vikings also got nine points from Anthony Bice and seven rebounds from Mitchell Dehn.

“We are riding a high right now for Niles basketball,” Niles coach Josh Bourne said. “Since we have been here, and who knows how long before, the sub-varsity teams have not won at Benton Harbor.  It is the toughest place to play in our league. To get a win tonight is a feeling that is hard to describe. We are so proud of our players and how they just played the game. Discipline was the key to escaping with the win.”
