The Niles wrestling team celebrated Senior Night with a big win over visiting St. Joseph.

The Vikings tied the team record for the number of wins in a season with their 27th. Niles defeated the Bears 57-14.

“It was senior night and we were fortunate enough to get all our seniors in the line-up,” Niles coach Todd Hesson said. “Chandler King did a great job tonight. He is a kid that has been in and out of the line-up, but he stuck with it and he had a big pin.”

The Vikings picked up pins from Nicholas Zimmerman (103), Darek Mills (119), Dante Stevens (145), Fritz Findiesen (152), King (189), James Asmus (215) and Mike Gentry (285).

Niles also got wins from Tyler Baber, Cole Allison, Casey Burandt and Tyler Mead.

“Tyler Mead did a good job for us at 171,” Hesson said. “Mike Gentry had to work, but he also had a big win.”

Niles is now off to the Lakeshore Super Duals on Saturday.
