Niles girls snap two-game skid

BATTLE CREEK – Visiting Niles went 22-of-40 from the free throw line Tuesday night to snap a two-game losing streak.

The Vikings improved to 7-5 on the season with a 54-36 victory over Battle Creek Central in girls’ basketball action.

Senior Nichole Sly scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Vikings. She also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and came up with five steals.

Niles also got nine points from Alexis McIntee and five points and four steals from Savannah Wolnik. Whitney Ellis also tossed in five points, while Maureen Craig finished with eight points. Michelle Briand chipped in with three points and six rebounds.

Tomeka Smith and Kayla Freeman each had six points for the Bearcats.

Niles also won the JV contest 30-27 and the freshmen game 30-20.
