Shirley M. Wayne, 88, of St. Joseph, formerly of St. Clair Shores, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at The Willows Assisted Living in St. Joseph.
A memorial service will be held at a later in the spring so all her family members can be present.
Shirley was born Aug. 29, 1922, in Detroit to Vern and Beatrice (Stevens) Rathbun.
Shirley was married to Jackson Wayne for 67 years. They had two children.
She worked as a bookkeeper for several companies, including the UAW/CIO.
Shirley was very involved in Scouting. She was a den mother, a Girl Scout leader, a camp-craft leader and a first-aid leader.
She loved sports, dancing and camping.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Jackson; and her sister, Marge McLain.
Shirley is survived by: her son, Richard (Carol) Wayne of Jerome; her daughter, Carole (Dale) VanderLinden of Dowagiac; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to Hospice at Home, St. Joseph, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
