Charles Roscoe Cauffman, 77, of Buchanan, died at 8:39 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles of natural causes.

He was born April 16, 1933 in Buchanan. He was a lifelong area resident.

Charles was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korea War. He was a factory worker and carpenter. He enjoyed mechanics, fishing, hunting, watching wrestling and spending time with his kids.

He lived with his companion of 27 years, Dawn Speilman, who survives in Buchanan.

He is survived by his sons, Ethan, Bobby, Dane and Cody Cauffman, all of Buchanan, and Charlie Cauffman of Florida; daughters, Autumn and Ariel Cauffman of Buchanan, Charlene Parrigan and Angela Mendez, both of Illinois and Veronica Cauffman of Arizona; a brother, Jack Cauffman of Niles; sisters, Ann Lakin and Mary Galbreath, both of Buchanan, Thelma Gorbitz of Niles, Carrie Waggoner of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Annie Yancey, Tobby Mendez, Mariah Smith and Matthew Parrigan; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Marie Cauffman; and two sisters, Ida Wilson and Maggie Cauffman.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011 at Hoven Funeral Home in Buchanan with Pastor Leonard Bailey of Church of the Nazarene in Niles officiating.

Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
