Eddies have no problems handling Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE — Josh Kozinski and Kyle Dale combined for 42 points as visiting Edwardsburg throttled Eau Claire 75-41 Tuesday night in boys’ basketball action.
The Eddies poured in 25 first quarter points to take a 16-point lead on the Beavers who never recovered.
Leading 25-9 heading into the second quarter, the Eddies scored another 19 points while holding Eau Claire to just five to open up a 44-14 halftime advantage.
Edwardsburg (5-3) outscored the Beavers (3-3) 32-27 in the final two quarters to complete the rout.
Kozinski and Dale each scored 21 points to spearhead the Eddies’ offensive attack. Edwardsburg also got seven points from Dustin Moore and six points each from Dominic Razzano, Marcus Albrecht and Kyle Slack.
Eau Claire was led by Jackson Harner’s 15 points. Cory Young finished with 10.

BRIDGMAN — A stingy Edwardsburg defense allowed the Eddies to keep pace with Brandywine in the Lakeland Conference standings heading into Friday night’s showdown.
Edwardsburg remained undefeated in league play with a 39-14 victory over Bridgman on Jan. 7.
After a close first quarter, which saw the Eddies take a 9-6 lead, Edwardsburg turned up the defensive pressure and allowed the Bees just eight points over the final three quarters. Bridgman scored two in the second, four in the third and two in the fourth periods.
Edwardsburg (7-2, 5-0 Lakeland) meanwhile, scored 12 points in the second, 13 points in the third to open up a 34-12 advantage heading into the final quarter.
Rachel Vite led the Eddies and all scorers with 12 points. Edwardsburg also got eight points from Mariah Murphy and seven points each from Emily Kozinski and Hanna Hack.
Rachel Stremm had four points to pace Bridgman, which drops to 4-6 and 0-5 in Lakeland play.
The Eddies and Brandywine are tied atop the league standings at 5-0 with the first of two games this season on Friday night at Edwardsburg High School.
