Berrien County board elects officers

ST. JOSEPH — Dave Pagel, the District 9 Commissioner, will lead the Berrien County Board for a second consecutive term.

Pagel, a Berrien Springs resident, was voted to the post by the other commissioners at Thursday’s organizational meeting.

District 7 Commissioner Debra Panozzo of Stevensville was elected to serve as vice chair.

The chairs of the committees were also selected Thursday. District 8 Commissioner Brian Bixby of Berrien Springs is the chair of the personnel and human resources committee, while District 11 Commissioner Mac Elliott will chair the administration committee. District 2 Commissioner Jon Hinkelman, a Watervliet resident, will head up the finance committee.

District 12 Commissioner John LaMore of Niles Township will serve on the administration committee after serving on the Personnel and Human Services Committee last term.

Newcomer Zach Perkins, the District 13 commissioner and Niles resident, will sit on the finance committee.

The board will begin its meetings for 2011 Thursday.
