An Andrews University student has been charged for allegedly stabbing his brother-in-law Sunday night at family housing units on campus.

Edwin Faleafine, 33, of California, is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm. The Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police Department was dispatched at 6:30 p.m. to a domestic disturbance at Beechwood Apartments on the campus of Andrews University.

An investigation into the incident determined that Faleafine had reportedly had a physical altercation with his brother-in-law, David Iuli, 30. Officers determined that Faleafine struck Iuli in the face and then grabbed a knife, stabbing Iuli twice in the shoulder.

The fight was eventually stopped by other family members.

Iuli was transported to Lakeland Hospital by family to be treated for his stab wounds.

Faleafine was arrested by BSOPTD officers, initially taken to Lakeland Hospital for treatment and evaluation prior to being lodged at the Berrien County Jail under the above charges.

The investigation is revealing that this is a family domestic-related matter.

Andrews University has advised that Faleafine is a current student and that Iuli appears to just be a family member living on campus, as there is no record of him having ever been a student at the university.
