Rashida Jordan has overcame many challenges in her life, but nothing could prepare her for the challenge that she is going through now.

Jordan is battling breast cancer for the second time in three years.

“I found a lump in my right breast while I was taking a shower one day, ”  Jordan said,  “so I went to to doctor to get it checked out. He wanted to do a biopsy because he said the lump didn’t look normal. I received the news when I went back for a follow-up. The results confirmed that it was cancer. ”

Even though being diagnosed with cancer was not easy, Rashida was more than prepared to fight it.

“I had cancer before,  so I knew what to expect. I knew my only chance of fighting it was through chemotherapy, and I was prepared to deal with the side-effects of it. ”

Going through chemo can take a lot out of person, especially time with family and friends.

“The chemo sometimes makes me very sick, so I don’t always have energy to do anything, except lay in the bed, and sleep,” Jordan said. “I can’t eat as much as as use to, because it is difficult for me to keep anything down. ”

Cancer not only affects the person, but it also affects the people close to them.

“I have an 8-year-old son, and it is very hard for him to see me in pain,” she said. “It is even harder for me because I’m too weak to spend time with him. ”

But, even though she is going through her sickness, Jordan still remains hopeful.

“I rely on my faith to help get me through the cancer, because I believe that God is going to heal me completely,” she said.

Jordan said she has a great support system to help her get through the cancer.

“I’m very blessed to have family and friends that I can come to whenever I get discouraged,” she said. “They encourage me, and help me with whatever I need. Rather it is cooking, or picking my son up, they are always there. ”

Jordan has some anyone dealing with the same thing she’s going through.

“Surround yourself with positive people,” she said. “Never give up, and keep faith. It’s not going to be easy, but you’re going to get through it.”
